Is Ziidi Trader Safe? Official App, Fake Websites and Scams to Avoid
September 08, 2026
Ziidi Trader itself is legitimate. The scams are the websites, downloads, messages and people pretending to be Ziidi Trader.
Safaricom launched Ziidi Trader with the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) in February 2026, allowing M-PESA users to buy and sell listed shares directly from their phones. The service operates under the oversight of the Capital Markets Authority (CMA).
The official route is simple:
My OneApp → Financial Services → Ziidi Trader
Thid path became especially important after criminals began using the Ziidi Trader name to target investors.
In June 2026, Safaricom publicly warned customers about ziiditrader.com, stating that the website was not official, was not authorised and had no association with Safaricom.
Safaricom has also warned customers about WhatsApp trading schemes, APK files, fake price movements and people claiming they can trade on behalf of Ziidi Trader users.
This guide explains exactly what is official and what is a scam.
For instructions on using the genuine service, read the complete Ziidi Trader guide.
Is Ziidi Trader legitimate?
Yes.
Ziidi Trader is a Safaricom service launched in partnership with the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
It allows M-PESA customers to buy and sell NSE-listed shares through My OneApp. Kestrel Capital processes the securities trades, and the platform operates under CMA oversight.
That makes the official service fundamentally different from a random website, WhatsApp group or downloadable file using the Ziidi name.
It is still important to understand the difference between platform legitimacy and investment risk. The official Ziidi Trader service is legitimate.
The shares bought through it are investments whose prices can rise or fall. Safaricom explicitly warns that past performance does not guarantee future results and that investors can lose part or all of the capital invested. A legitimate investment platform does not make every investment profitable.
Where is the official Ziidi Trader?
For retail investors, the authorised Ziidi Trader service is inside Safaricom My OneApp.
Open:
My OneApp → Financial Services → Ziidi Trader
This provides one of the easiest security rules to remember:
Do not search Google for a Ziidi Trader login page and enter your financial details into whatever website appears. Open My OneApp directly instead.
The authentic service already exists inside Safaricom’s ecosystem. You do not need a third-party website to reach it.
Is ziiditrader.com official?
No.
Safaricom specifically identified ziiditrader.com in a customer fraud warning and stated that the website had no association with Safaricom.
The company instructed customers not to provide personal or financial information through it.
That includes:
- personal details
- mobile phone numbers
- M-PESA PINs
- bank information
The authorised Ziidi Trader platform is accessed only through the official Safaricom My OneApp. A polished website is not proof of legitimacy.
There is no Ziidi Trader APK to install
Other scams have tried to misidirect customers by promising them a “Ziidi Trader app download”. It can become dangerous when users assume Ziidi Trader is a separate Android app.
Safaricom’s anti-scam guidance is explicit:
Ziidi Trader does not distribute WhatsApp links or .apk files. The service sits inside My OneApp.
Installing an APK received through WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, email or a random website bypasses the normal app-store route and can give malicious software access to the phone.
That risk becomes particularly serious on a device that also contains M-PESA and other financial apps.
If somebody sends a file named something like:
ZiidiTrader.apk
do not install it. It is not the official way to access Ziidi Trader.
Ziidi Trader is self-service - there are no WhatsApp traders
Safaricom states that Ziidi Trader is self-service.
You select the security, choose whether to buy or sell, enter the price and quantity, review the order and confirm the transaction yourself.
There is no requirement to send money to a person on WhatsApp so that they can trade on your behalf. Anyone asking for money so they can trade for you through a WhatsApp group is a conman.
That scam can take several forms.
Someone may claim to be:
- a Safaricom employee
- a Ziidi Trader account manager
- an NSE trader
- a broker assigned to your account
- an investment expert with access to Ziidi Trader
- a group administrator who can multiply your money
None of those claims changes how the genuine service works. Your Ziidi Trader orders are placed by you inside My OneApp.
Beware of Ziidi Trader “signals” and guaranteed shares
Another version of the scam is the paid stock-tip groups. A WhatsApp or Telegram administrator claims to know which NSE share is about to rise and charges members for “signals.”
Others use the Ziidi Trader name to make the pitch look official. Ziidi Trader does not provide guaranteed winning trades.
Safaricom also states that it does not endorse the purchase or sale of any specific counter.
That means a message claiming:
“Ziidi Trader has confirmed this share will rise tomorrow”
is false.
A person can analyse a listed company and form an investment opinion. That is completely different from claiming to possess guaranteed future price information or implying that Safaricom has secretly selected a winning stock. No genuine stock-market investment comes with a guaranteed price increase.
Fake price movements are another warning sign
Scammers use fake dashboards, edited screenshots and fabricated account balances because large, rapid numbers create excitement.
A simple example of ths is: somebody shows Ziidi Trader prices jumping by KSh50 every few seconds, that is not how normal NSE trading behaves.
NSE shares trade through an order book. A price changes when buy and sell orders actually match; it does not move because an app is generating a constantly rising balance.
Scammers exploit the fact that many first-time investors do not know the difference between an executed trade, settlement and a displayed market price. They can show an animated dashboard, rapidly increasing numbers or fabricated account balances and present them as proof of extraordinary returns.
A screen recording is not proof that a trade happened.A screenshot showing a huge account balance is not proof that the money exists. A green chart is not proof of profit.
The purpose is usually to make the victim believe other people are earning extraordinary returns and that they must deposit money immediately to participate. Real listed-share prices are determined by actual buyers and sellers in the market.
Ziidi Trader does not trade on Sunday night
The NSE does not operate around the clock. Safaricom’s Ziidi Trader investor education states that NSE trading operates Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
That gives investors another straightforward scam filter. Someone claiming to be actively executing Ziidi Trader share trades on a Sunday night is not trading on the live NSE market.
The same applies to schemes built around continuous overnight trading. Ziidi Trader is not a 24-hour forex platform. Orders interact with the Kenyan securities market.
For a detailed explanation of market hours and what happens after an order is placed, read NSE settlement explained for Ziidi Trader.
Never give anyone your M-PESA PIN
There is no legitimate reason for a website operator, WhatsApp administrator, “broker,” customer-care agent or investment mentor to know it. Your M-PESA PIN authorises transactions.
If somebody needs your PIN to supposedly activate Ziidi Trader, unlock profits, verify a withdrawal or complete a trade for you, stop the interaction.
The genuine transaction process keeps confirmation under your control. This same principle applies when a website asks for financial credentials after arriving through an unsolicited message. Do not type sensitive account information into links sent by strangers.
A real Ziidi Trader trade does not require sending money to an individual
Ziidi Trader is integrated with M-PESA. You do not fund a stranger’s personal phone number so that the person can purchase shares for you.
This makes requests such as these immediate red flags:
“Send KSh5,000 to this number and we will activate your trading account.”
“Deposit with the group admin and we will place the trade.”
“Pay the analyst first and your Ziidi profit will be released.”
“Send a withdrawal fee to unlock your earnings.”
That is not the Ziidi Trader transaction process. The genuine service keeps the investment journey inside the authorised platform.
How to identify the official Ziidi Trader
Use this checklist before entering money or personal information:
| Check | Official Ziidi Trader |
|---|---|
| Access | Inside Safaricom My OneApp |
| Trading | Self-service |
| Share orders | Placed by the investor |
| M-PESA PIN | Kept private |
| WhatsApp trader | No |
| APK sent through WhatsApp | No |
| Guaranteed share profits | No |
| Sunday-night NSE trading | No |
| CMA oversight | Yes |
| Fake website login required | No |
The safest habit is also the simplest:
Open Safaricom My OneApp yourself instead of following a link claiming to take you to Ziidi Trader.
What to do if someone sends you a suspicious Ziidi Trader link
Do not register.
Do not enter your phone number.
Do not enter your M-PESA PIN.
Do not provide bank information.
Do not download an APK.
Do not send money.
You should report suspicious activity through SMS 333 or through My OneApp.
If money or account credentials have already been exposed, contact Safaricom immediately through its official customer-support channels rather than continuing to communicate with the person who sent the link.
Is Ziidi Trader safe from investment losses?
No investment in listed shares is safe from market losses. That is why it is important to understand that scam protection and investment risk are separate issues.
Using the genuine Ziidi Trader protects you from handing money to somebody impersonating the service. It does not protect you from buying a share that subsequently falls in price.
Share prices fluctuate, and partial or complete capital loss is possible. Before buying a share, assess the company, valuation, risks and your own investment objectives.
You should also understand the costs of entering and exiting a position. Our Ziidi Trader fees and charges guide breaks down the brokerage, CMA, NSE, CDSC and stamp-duty costs charged on actual transactions.
Bottom line
Ziidi Trader is legitimate. Impersonators using the Ziidi Trader name are not.
The official service is inside Safaricom My OneApp.
Do not install a Ziidi Trader APK.
Do not give a WhatsApp administrator money to trade for you.
Do not give anyone your M-PESA PIN.
Do not trust a website simply because it uses the Ziidi name or looks professional.
Do not believe claims of guaranteed NSE profits or secret Ziidi Trader stock signals.
And do not believe someone claiming to execute live NSE trades on a Sunday night.
Any website using the Ziidi Trader, claiming to give traders access to the trading platform, is fake.
The safest route requires no searching and no third-party link:
Open Safaricom My OneApp → Financial Services → Ziidi Trader.
